HOW TO ASSESS THE CONDITION OF YOUR CAR

Clean Condition

• Ready to retail requiring little or no refurbishment.
• Mechanically sound.
• Current MOT test certificate or requiring little attention in order to obtain one.
• Acceptable manufacturers colour and trim combination.
• Interior to be clean and well cared for, in original condition and free of damage.
• All documentation available and in order, including spare keys and security codes.
• Full documented service history.

Average Condition

• In reasonable condition given it’s age and mileage.
• Requires some work other than routine cleaning and servicing to bring it up to retail standard.
• Mechanically sound.
• Current MOT test certificate or in need of only routine service item replacements in order to obtain one.
• Acceptable colour with some repainting required.
• Interior largely undamaged and complete but in need of cleaning.
• All documentation available and in order.

Below average

• Vehicle in poor and hard-worked condition that would prove to be uneconomical to restore to an acceptable retail standard.
• Mechanically poor condition.
• Little or no MOT.
• Damaged or corroded bodywork.
• Incomplete or damaged interior trim.
• A desirable metallic colour can be often be worth more than a standard plain colour.
• Poor colours such as beige, dark blue, yellow, and brown are usually worth less and should be valued accordingly.
